Film screening: Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream”

America House Chisinau invites everyone to attend a virtual film screening of one of Martin Luther King’s inspirational speeches “I Have a Dream”, delivered to supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC during the March on Washington, which boosted public support for civil rights.

Prior registration is required as the event takes place on ZOOM platform:

The speech was ranked the top American speech of the 20th century in a 1999 poll of scholars of public address. The speech has also been described as having “a strong claim to be the greatest in the English language of all time”.

Martin Luther King was the most important voice of the American civil rights movement, which worked for equal rights for all, from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968.

After the film screening, there will be a short discussion with the public about the speech and the personality of Martin Luther King, in order to find out about the people’s thoughts and impressions about the film. Welcome to the conversation and be our guests on January 18 starting from 4 p.m.
